Guess What??

Well, if you guessed they are having a baby girl... your right!! And they are just smitten with excitement :). I got the opportunity to meet Jennie and Edwin for the first time during their gender reveal photo shoot a couple weeks ago, and I'm so glad they were DFW (that's down for whatever ;) ). They totally went along with getting sprinkles smeared all over their hands for such a fun gender reveal, but I think next time I will use confetti, as it might be a bit less messy!! I'm just glad we saved it for last :).

I loved that Jennie and Edwin brought along Edwin's parents for a family shot, I just thought that was so precious. His parents were just as sweet and easy going as they are. Family is the most valuable gift we have. Having people around us that will love and accept us unconditionally is a basic need woven into the fabric of our souls from the very beginning.

Portrait photography is changing so quickly these days. People want candid shots. That works when you are a photographer covering an event, but unless we plan an activity for everyone to do, if we didn't give any direction, be would pretty much have people in an unnatural setting standing around looking awkward, not knowing what to do when a camera is pointed in their faces. So, it's important to pose, but then interact with a client while posing to hopefully catch some natural interactions while posed in between shots. This is how you get pictures that LOOK candid, but it still requires posing and direction.

I love photographing people and families. I love capturing those candid interactions between family members that tell a story of who they are, and where they are along their own unique journey in life. I loved this session, because I felt like I got to be a part of something very unique and precious. Three generations colliding, and the excitement of it all creates something like emotional fireworks. A spark that can only be remembered completely through a photograph.
