What an exciting journey this has been! Exactly a year ago, Stephen and I made the move out here to Del Rio, and we had no idea what to expect. The other night we were sitting outside barbecuing burgers, reflecting on our journey thus far, and I have to admit, it has definitely had it's challenges. I'm so proud of my husband and how he has handled all the stress, as I can count on just one hand the amount of times he has shown signs of stress since we met. Training has been filled with long twelve hour days of flying, and studying during the few short hours at home for the pressure filled daily rides and check rides since last May. Stephen has handled it like a pro, and we are excited and yet kind of sad to know it will all be done and over, and we will be moving yet again in just three short months.
One of the joys in our journey, as I have mentioned before, has been the people we have met along the way. Our neighbors, the Moon family are just a few. We met Jenna and Chris Moon as well as their little girl Madison a few months ago, at their house warming party after they just moved in. Jenna is from the Temecula area in California, which is were Stephen and I got married! And I was just talking about what a small world this is in one of my recent blogs :). I love seeing God move in the relationships I've been building out here, as I truly believe every encounter is meant to be, and nothing is an accident. Surprisingly at my age, most of our friends out here don't have kids yet, largely due to the fact that we are part of the very small percentage of couples on base beyond 25...but the Moon family has been a blessing to give us a glimpse of all we have to look forward in our future when we do decide to cross that bridge. Madison is a little bundle of energy and she says some of the sweetest things. Seeing her, and then getting a chance to hold piper, their new little one, paints a smile on my face knowing the exciting times that are ahead :).
This week, the verse that has been frequently appearing is 1 Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have...". Through all of the trials we have experienced this year, I have constantly been challenged to trust that the Lord has a plan for it all, and he never fails to answer our prayers in such clear ways. Even when the going gets tough, I know I can let go and God will always be there, assuring me he's been in control the whole time. And because of him, I have so much hope for what is to come.
