Spouse's Painting Social |
I am so torn. I'm not sure yet if reading the news nearly every morning lately has been adding or taking from my life, but I do know I've had a much broader perspective of the world and what's been going on. I feel blessed to be where I am... nestled inside a heavily secured U.S. Air Force Base, firmly planted on American soil, home of the free. However, with the constant streaming of videos and gory visuals being updated on a minute to minute basis from the turmoil going on around the world, I can't help but feel torn between blessedness and helplessness.
Yesterday evening I was feeling extremely blessed as I shared laughs, drinks, and sweet treats with my new friends here on base at a painting social for the spouses who's husbands are here for pilot training. Of course I brought my camera for a bit of lifestyle photography action, as I didn't want to miss a chance to capture some of the local happenings here near base. If you've ever gone to a byob paint class, it was the same type of thing. It took place at the local "Firehouse", an old building here in downtown Del Rio that has photography, dance, guitar, cooking, (all my favorite things) and all other types of classes offered weekly. If only I could afford to take them all! This was one I really wanted to take part in, as nearly all the women I have gotten to know recently were there, and I wasn't about to miss out :).
This morning after such a great night, I of course woke up to my morning routine of coffee, breakfast, reading the bible and reading the news, and had a chance to reflect on what's going on around the world outside my little bubble. One could be rather sheltered and oblivious staying wrapped up in their little bubble, or on the other end become rather downtrodden if focusing on the the news too much. I think in everything balance is important, and prayer is the medicine that heals heartache. After feeling my heart twinge for the people having to run from missile sirens amidst their daily routines, families fleeing their homes to practice their own religion without fear of beheadings and crucifixion, I did the only things I know how to do to heal the heartache...I prayed:
"I pray Lord that you protect your people. I pray you keep your children from being deceived. Protect them as they flee from countless dangers among them, and if it's your will for some to stay, keep them and grant them the boldness they need to display your glory. Bless and keep America, prevent plans of harm from coming our way. Be with our president, help him to make the right decisions to keep us safe, and that your will be done around the world."
Please join me in praying for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and for our country.
